The Vibe: From Hustle to Happy Hour
As someone in the warehouse storage & services sector, my main focus at ProMat 2025 was, of course, logistics, material handling, and all things heavy, serious-minded, and industrial. But let’s be real—when you’re at one of the biggest supply chain expos of the year, you don’t just stay in your lane. You wander and absorb every possible insight to see where the industry is headed.
The first two days? All business. People came in with laser focus, grinding through their meetings, shaking hands, and locking in deals. The expo floor felt like a battlefield of efficiency—agendas were tight, conversations were to the point, and by Tuesday afternoon, you could sense a collective exhale.

Then, at exactly 3:30 PM on Tuesday, something magical happened: relax. Almost every exhibitor started chatting like old friends. The transformation was instant—suits loosened, people actually smiled, and suddenly, everyone had time for a “casual chat” about business. Wednesday was even chiller—conversations felt more open, stress levels dropped, and by the end of the day, a private party + stand-up comedy show sealed the deal.
Cool Stuff We Noticed
When it comes to warehouse technology trends 2025, automation, robotics, and AI were obviously stealing the show. But let’s talk about what really stood out:
- The most memorable robot from Reflex Robotics. Some booths were all about robotic arms, AI-driven conveyors, and futuristic picking solutions. But the one that got my attention? A robot that actually waves back at you. Not only does it return your wave, but it also fist-bumps and high-fives. Considering our industry’s usual focus on pallets, racks, and pure efficiency, seeing something interactive (and honestly, fun) was a breath of fresh air.

- Damotech is making big moves. If rack safety wasn’t already a big topic, Damotech made sure it was. They’ve been serious about warehouse safety innovations, and their recent acquisition of Macrack (a giant in the repair kit market) signals a massive step toward securing warehouse structures. Bonus? We have a solid partnership with them, so it was great to see them leading the conversation.
- Warehouse integration. It’s fascinating to watch how companies evolve, especially in the warehouse integration tech. From pallet racking to warehouse racking systems, from creating rational zoning to implementing highly advanced solutions with conveyors, mezzanines, and automation. Even just within a year, you can see massive growth. Designing and connecting complex systems, like hybrid warehouse solutions, is no easy feat. It takes a deep understanding of logistics and technology to make these systems work seamlessly together.
- Special attention to conveyors. Plastic belt conveyors, inclined conveyors, and spiral conveyors, with various ball gears and rollers, remain one of the best options for boosting warehouse efficiency.

Who Got Nominated? Who Took Home the Wins
The MHI Innovation Awards featured some solid nominees, but here’s the breakdown of who actually won:
- Best New Innovation – Anyware Robotics
- Best Innovation of an Existing Product – Concentric, LLC
- Best IT Innovation – Fidus Global
- Best Innovation in Sustainability – GRI Inc.
- StartUp Award Winner – Freespace Robotics
Personally? If I had to pick a “winner” from a pure cool-factor standpoint, I’d go with that friendly Reflex Robotics robot that interacts with people. In a sea of efficiency-driven automation, it added an unexpected human touch to warehouse robotics.

Industry Vibe & Takeaways
Beyond the tech and awards, what were people actually saying?
2025 Outlook: Surprisingly Optimistic. Almost everyone I talked to was cautiously positive about the coming year. Sure, there’s still uncertainty around tariffs and supply chain disruptions, but 2023–2024 was a survival game. Now? Most businesses feel like they’ve turned a corner, and pipelines for 2025 look strong. Instead of panic, the general attitude is “let’s wait and see”. No one’s thrilled, but companies have adjusted their strategies so much over the past few years that this isn’t their first rodeo.

As for tariffs, I’ve personally been diving into this topic over the last couple of months. I’ve written everything I know about it in my latest blog post. Check it out for all the details The Impact of 2025 Tariffs on the Warehouse & Storage Industry.
Companies were either booming or struggling—no middle ground. From the warehouse side, businesses fell into two categories: those who started 2025 strong and those still catching up from 2024’s mess. The ones doing well? They had a mix of good forecasting, strong supplier relationships, and tech investments. The ones struggling? Still dealing with past delays, cost spikes, and labor shortages.
Networking actually mattered this year. People weren’t just here to look at new tech—they were actively building partnerships. I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve shaken hands: Scott DeBorde, Business Development Manager at Speedrack West, myself, and other partners. Given how tough the past couple of years have been, this ProMat felt less like a trade show and more like a strategic meeting point for the industry. In fact, the connections made there are already paying off—We’ve met three new strategic vendors since ProMat who could play a key role in upcoming projects. Even in an old industry, fresh opportunities continue to emerge.

Some Final Thoughts
ProMat 2025 wasn’t just another material handling trade show—it was a pulse check for the industry. From serious business deals in the first two days to casual networking and stand-up comedy, it had a little bit of everything.
For those of us in warehouse storage & services, the show reinforced a key theme: innovation is great, but relationships drive everything. Whether it’s investing in smarter automation, securing supply chain partnerships, or just getting a fist-bump from a robot, the industry is moving forward—and we’re here for it.
