Request / Problem
Basin Tire Service, Inc., had a reason to order the rack system that could give them more volume for 12,800 square feet of warehouse space to store 7,500 tires.
Solution
Tire racks: The vertical stacking method is the most suitable way of storing tires, making it easier to load and remove bulky tires from the rack. Let's dig into the stages.

Understanding Requirements
There are different tire storage methods: on the tread, lacing the tires, and “barrel stack”. Each of them has pros and cons. Our client had a basic idea of how he wanted to set this up. Basin Tire Service used a “barrel-stack” approach that allowed stacking tires not so high. So with a rough idea of how the company was to set this up, Speedrack West came up with a structural idea for what they needed.

Tire Racking Systems Benefits
The tire racks are based on the elements of industrial shelf racks. The rack height and load capacity are individualized and depend on the products to be stored.
The truck tire storage rack is a heavy-duty tire rack designed to store heavy truck and bus tires on their tread. These racks have 45˚ angle beams, which allow the tires to be properly positioned on the tread. By varying the length and profile of the crossbeams, it is possible to provide the necessary loads on the tire rack, even for very heavy wheels, without overpaying for unnecessary metal-intensive construction. Commercial truck tire storage racks have a 1750 lb load capacity.
Implementation
Our client can opt for a profile of crossbeams for light tires and truck tires. We also manufacture custom frames as well as crossbeams.
In this project, our client’s tire racks were set up for specific tire heights, starting at a semi-truck tire of 12-24.5 and moving to a small car tire, which is about a 14-inch or 13-inch tire. With this space versatility, the client gets more volume and a wider selection to accommodate the company’s needs.

Outcome
Once the racks were installed, the company had a better idea of their overall capacity, knowing exactly how much inventory they had per rack system. The way many smaller businesses and tire centers do it is to stack. It all makes it harder to find the product you require. This solution helps the company find the right product more easily and serve customers quickly. With the current tire racking system, the company can hold a larger volume, up to about 40% more than before.
