Description
Applications of ball transfer units
Ball Transfer units make easy work of shifting, and rotating loads. You can see them in the conveyor systems and other equipment, such as feed tables for sheet-metal working machines, fixtures for press brakes, transfer ball tables, turntables and switches for sorting and distribution systems, baggage sorting systems at airports, and even lifting platforms.
Specifications
Ball Transfer Units have a steel housing incorporating a hardened ball cup. Ball Transfers precise rolling and full load-bearing capability are ensured in any mounting orientation. They require little maintenance, and almost every type is protected against dirt by an oil-soaked felt seal.
Ball Assemblies are 1″ dia. steel ball x 1-13/16″ overall housing diameter. The mounting bolt is 1/4″-20.
Replacement ball transfers have a 50 lb capacity per ball (maximum unit load not to exceed the capacity of 4 balls – 200 lbs). Determine ball spacing by dividing minimum package dimensions by 2.5 if you have goods with a uniform, smooth undersurface, such as boxes and cases. Center-to-center ball spacing results, with a minimum of 9 ball casters required to support each package.
Ball Transfers with steel load have up to 212°F. Use a high-temperature lubricant and observe the manufacturer’s instructions.
Please note that ball transfer units must not be used other than for their intended purpose. Installation or use of inappropriate products can result in uncontrolled operating conditions that can cause personal injury and/or property damage.
