Chain Driven Live Roller Conveyor
Chain-driven roller conveyor systems (CDLR) are sometimes referred to as pallet roller conveyor systems because they are used for pallets as well as wheels, tires, and other products that have a smooth surface underneath.
Single-Stand or Roll-to-Roll (progressive) configurations?
The single-core type is recommended for medium to heavy duty. This type is driven by a continuous chain traveling on sprockets welded to each carrier roller. To ensure that the chain always engages the sprocket, a continuous pressure rod is integrated with the chain guard.
If your conveyor requires frequent starts and stops or reverse operation, a progressive (roll-roller) chain-driven roller conveyor is the best choice. The rollers are progressively driven by loops of chain from one roller to the next. Two sprockets are welded to each roller: one sprocket receives power from the previous roller, and the other sprocket transfers that power to the next roller. Roll-to-roll CDLR conveyors can handle the heaviest loads.

Which type is appropriate for you?

There are two big types of chain-driven live roller conveyors: straight and curved.

Roach 192 CDLRC is a medium-duty chain-driven live roller curve, designed to transport medium-duty loads such as castings or drums. If you need the straight model 192 look at CDLR 192CDLR , a medium-duty chain-driven live roller conveyor. Optional equipment is available. The speed is constant at 1.5-100 FPM; DC variable speed; AC inverter variable speed. Note that the capacity changes with speed 100 FPM max with roll-to-roll chain drive.

When conveying medium-duty pallet loads, use model 254TCDLRC to maintain product orientation.

Whatever you need, we are here to help you make the right choice and provide more detailed information. Call us now!
351TCDLRC is a true taper heavy duty chain driven live roller curve. Ideal for conveying pallets or other heavy unit loads, this conveyor features a “true taper” to maintain product orientation throughout the curve. Here is a heavy-duty 11 ga. tapered rollers, model 351T with sprockets, for true taper effect.

Model 251 is also presented in straight and curved variations. Model 251CDLRC, a heavy-duty chain-driven live roller curve. Heavy castings, drums and other loads not requiring product orientation may be effectively conveyed on this conveyor. Speed is 35 FPM, constant. It is especially suited for carrying loads in the presence of oil and other such contaminants. The chain drive is enclosed, top and bottom, along the entire length of the conveyor. The drive is located on the outside of the curve.

Model 251CDLR is a heavy-duty chain-driven live roller conveyor, specifically designed to transport heavy loads. The model has a roll-to-roll chain drive, minimum overall conveyor length with drive 5′-3″, and maximum overall conveyor length: 58′-6″. Roller bearings of the model 251CDLR provide a roller capacity of 540 lbs. per roller (maximum).

Roach model 3530CDLR is ideal for transporting very heavy unit loads. This heavy-duty chain-driven live roller is designed with heavy .300 wall steel rollers, larger-sized roller chains, and heavy-duty structural frames and supports for applications demanding ultra-durable construction for longevity and durability. Roller capacity is 2500 lbs. per roller. The bed lengths (7-1/2″ RC, #80 CHAIN): Minimum overall conveyor length with drive 5′-0″. Maximum overall conveyor length 80′-0″.
Yes, we know there is a wide range of choices. The good news is that we’re here and ready to offer your business the right model because we know all about them. Call us and be sure.

FAQ
Where Are Chain Driven Roller Conveyors Commonly Used?
Manufacturing, Distribution and Warehousing, Material Handling, Food and Beverage, Retail and E-commerce, Automotive, Mining and Quarrying, Packaging industries
Advantages of Chain Driven Roller Conveyors
Chain driven roller conveyors are ideal for applications requiring pallet handling, curved sections, and medium to heavy-duty transport. They provide reliable and controlled movement for various types of products.
How Are Chain Driven Roller Conveyors Constructed?
Chain driven roller conveyors are constructed with several key components:
- Rollers: These are cylindrical tubes or bars that rotate freely on axles. They provide the surface on which products or materials travel along the conveyor.
- Roller Chain: A continuous loop of roller chain runs beneath the rollers. The rollers are attached to the chain, and as the chain moves, it drives the rollers, causing them to rotate and move products along the conveyor.
- Sprockets: Sprockets are toothed wheels that engage with the roller chain. They are typically located at the ends of the conveyor and are connected to a motor or other drive mechanism. As the sprockets rotate, they pull the roller chain, causing the rollers to move.
- Frame: The frame provides the structure and support for the conveyor system. It is typically made of steel or aluminum and includes legs for supporting the conveyor at the desired height.
- Drive System: The drive system includes the motor, gearbox, and other components responsible for powering the conveyor. It provides the necessary torque to drive the roller chain and move products along the conveyor.
- Guarding: Guards are installed to protect workers from moving parts and pinch points. They help ensure safe operation of the conveyor system.
- Supports and Bearings: Supports are used to stabilize the conveyor and prevent sagging or misalignment. Bearings are installed at the ends of rollers to facilitate smooth rotation.
- Optional Accessories: Depending on the specific application, chain driven roller conveyors may include additional features such as sensors, brakes, diverters, and accumulation zones to enhance functionality and performance.
What Are Chain Driven Live Roller Conveyors?
Chain driven live roller conveyors are a type of roller conveyor system where the rollers are powered by chains, providing positive driving for smooth and reliable transport of goods
What Makes Chain Driven Roller Conveyors Ideal For Certain Applications?
Chain driven roller conveyors are ideal for applications where the conveyor system needs:
- Heavy-Duty Handling
- Long Distance Transport
- Accumulation Control
- Versatility
- Durability
- Low Maintenance
- Customization Options
- Positive Drive
- High Throughput
What Environments Are Suitable for Chain Driven Live Roller Conveyors?
Chain driven roller conveyors are suitable for environments where the conveyor system may be exposed to oily substances, heavy-duty use, or custom configuration requirements.
How Do Chain Driven Live Roller Conveyors Work?
Chain driven roller conveyors use a roll chain system to provide positive driving force to the rollers, ensuring efficient movement of goods along the conveyor system.
