Description
Vertical storage racks are one of the most efficient solutions for storing and operating long items such as lumber, pipe, tubing, and even artwork. Why is it so effective? Because of its simple and economical structure.
How does it work?

Vertical storage racks consist of uprights, horizontal beams, and dividers to accommodate different load sizes and maximize vertical space. Thanks to their design, you can vertically place products on their end, minimizing the need for additional floor space. Notice that the floor and back beams of the vertical racks support a leaning product. Frames and beams are constructed of heavy-duty steel sections and bear a considerable weight of the stored products.
Each bay consists of multiple back beams with vertical divider arms to create sections. Front beams can be positioned at the top and bottom to prevent stored materials from sliding out or falling forward. The wide storage base of vertical racking provides a point of attachment that can be securely fastened to a solid, flat floor. The base can be installed as a simple frame with one end of the product resting on the floor surface. one end of the product resting on the floor surface.
How do I determine how many Arm Dividers I need?
The cinch Bracket height is 7¼”, and the width is 3″.
Here are some common setups:
- For heights from 8′ to 12′, use 1 or 2 levels of backer beams; for heights over 12′, use 3 levels.
- As a general rule, add an extra level every 4′ to prevent your product from falling.
- The width should be calculated based on your product size, but a bay every 2′ is common practice.
You have flexibility in placing the arms as needed, but we recommend talking with our experts for a free design consultation to create the most effective solution!

How to store products vertically?
Vertical racking is versatile and can accommodate various long items like pipes, lumber, tubing, rods, or wooden planks. However, it’s essential to assess the weight, size, and handling requirements of your items to ensure they are compatible with this type of racking system.
Use single-sided racks by installing them at any convenient place or along the wall. This can add an extra support.

If you need double-sided storage, consider adding an additional rack opposite the current one. This setup is ideal for open storage areas and balances the load on each side. Just be mindful when handling products to avoid distortion. But don’t forget to buy an additional (4) Pallet Rack Row Spacers per every bay side.
Additional accessories

Finally, consider unique accessories for a more advanced setup. You can purchase pallet supports here to add to your Vertical Storage Rack, helping reduce the risk of items falling or mixing. However, if you are not overloading the bay, vertical racking design and gravity will keep items in the correct position and make your processes efficient.
